Law of truly large numbers
The law of truly large numbers says that, given enough people and events, almost any outrageous event is bound to occur. This accounts for events which would otherwise be thought of as 'meaningful coincidences'.
Example #1
If the risk of being injured by a turtle falling on your head is 1 in 1,000,000,000 in any year for any person, then we would expect it to happen to - on average - 8 people in the world every year.
